Sealing The Propex Exhaust Combustion Pipe
Posted by Propex North America on Mar 27th 2025
A common installation issue with the Propex heater is a combustion exhaust pipe that does not have an airtight seal. An air leak here has the potential to throw a fault code in the heater.
Here are the steps to follow when installing this pipe:
- First slide the purple high temperature silicone coupler smaller end down onto the pipe (on the opposite side as the end cap) about six inches.
- Slide a hose clamp onto the larger, open end of the silicone coupler.
- Apply a coat of high temperature RTV to the male heater exhaust outlet stub.
- Slide the stainless steel exhaust pipe onto the heater combustion exhaust outlet.
- Slide the silicone coupler up over the pipe and heater outlet and tighten the hose clamp.
Finish off the installation by applying high temperature RTV around the ends of the silicone coupler to ensure no air leaks.
