Propex Heater Terminology 101

As with anything discussed on the internet, we've seen a wide range of terms used for the components of the Propex heaters.  Let's find some common ground on Propex terminology!

Pipes: We call the smaller (22mm in the HS2000 and HS2211, 26mm in the HS2800) intake and exhaust pipes the combustion pipes. If you contact our technical support team, we'll be referring to "pipes" rather than ducts, tubes, etc. These pipes are NOT to be cut shorter than one meter (about 40 inches) whatsoever.

Ducts/Ducting: The heated cabin air is transferred by larger (60mm in the HS2000 and HS2211, 76mm in the HS2800) corrugated ducting. The heater takes ambient temperature cabin air, runs it across the heat exchanger within the unit and then delivers the heated air back into the cabin via ducts.

Tube/Tubing: We refer to the propane delivery line from the regulator as "tubing". Why tubing? In the engineering world, when the outside diameter of a delivery 'tube' is of specific importance, the specification calls for tubing as opposed to pipe or channel. In the case of Propex, the propane fitting at the heater is a 1/4" compression fitting, requiring tubing that has an exact 1/4" outside diameter.
