Frequently Asked Questions - Propex PS2000 Portable Propane Suitcase Heater

How long will the battery last?

The unit has a frugal 1.4 Amp current draw when in use. Meaning if you were to run the heater at a full duty cycle (refer to duty cycle section) with our 72000mAh power bank you would expect the charge to last 51.25 hours.

Should I worry about carbon monoxide?

The PS2000 is designed to be placed outside and the ducting routed into the area you need heat. The air coming from the ducting is completely separate from any of the air being used in the combustion process so there is no chance of exhaust being sent into the heated area. On the side of the unit you will see a HOT outlet plate where the exhaust fumes from the combustion process will escape the unit. This is the only place any exhaust will ever be!

Does it smell?

Unlike diesel or even the popular red radiant propane heaters the PS2000 burns over 99% efficient so if you were to stand right next to the PS2000 you wouldn't smell the exhaust fumes.

Is it loud?

No the heater is extremely quiet. You will only hear the sound of forced air that is being pushed by the fan inside the unit. When standing 10 feet away you wouldn't even know it's on.

How much does it weigh?

35 lbs

Will it burn me?

The only exposed part that will burn you is the HOT exhaust port on the side of the unit. Make sure to keep objects away from that port. Hot air will also come out of the hot air duct that is heating your space but this heat isn't going to burn you.

How much propane does it use?

If you were running on a full duty cycle (refer to duty cycle section) you should expect a 1 lb propane tank to last 4 hours.

What is a duty cycle?

(Refer to product manual for full details – this section was referenced but not defined in the provided content.)

Is it waterproof?

We designed this unit to withstand all weather that you find yourself in. However, it is weather-resistant, not waterproof. Meaning you can't submerge the PS2000 in water but you can use it in a rainstorm.

How does the thermostat work?

One of the best parts about the PS2000 is the ability to control how hot you want the space. You can set your thermostat up to 86 degrees F and the heater will run until the ambient temperature is 86 degrees. Once it reaches your desired temp the unit will turn off, run through a cool down cycle and shut down. Then when the temperature drops two degrees the heater will turn back on and provide heat until the requested temperature is met again. This cycle will repeat over and over, keeping your space at the temperature that best fits your needs.

Does it work at high elevation?

Yes it does! We have taken the PS2000 above 10,000 ft and it runs just the same as if it was at sea level.

Is it durable?

We built the PS2000 with high quality handmade components all wrapped up in a top-of-the-line case. It's built for the outdoors!

Why not go with a diesel heater?

Diesel heaters are smelly, loud, and inefficient. They also require continual upkeep, maintenance, adjusting, and tuning. Most come from inconsistent and untrustworthy dealers that are from far away lands. There is a reason they call them the cheap diesel heater...

Does it require maintenance?

No, the unit does not require routine maintenance. If you use the heater as it is intended, you're ready for years and years of reliable heat.

What is the warranty?

The heater comes with a 1-year warranty. Every single PS2000 is built in Fort Collins, Colorado. We have a team of experts that can help you if you ever have an issue. We can troubleshoot, replace, or repair anything you need.
